Leather Care Guide
Keep your handcrafted leather goods looking beautiful for generations
Daily Care
- •Wipe down with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and dirt
- •Avoid exposure to direct sunlight for extended periods
- •Keep away from heat sources like radiators or car dashboards
- •Allow leather to breathe - avoid storing in plastic bags
Cleaning Your Leather
- •For light cleaning, use a damp (not wet) cloth with a tiny amount of mild soap
- •Always test cleaning products on a small, hidden area first
- •Wipe in circular motions and allow to air dry naturally
- •Never use harsh chemicals, acetone, or alcohol-based cleaners
- •For stubborn stains, consult a professional leather cleaner
Conditioning (Every 3-6 Months)
Leather is skin and needs moisture to stay supple. Regular conditioning prevents cracking and maintains the leather's natural oils.
- •Use a high-quality leather conditioner or cream
- •Apply a small amount with a soft cloth in circular motions
- •Let it absorb for 15-20 minutes, then buff with a clean cloth
- •Condition more frequently if leather feels dry or in dry climates
- •Avoid over-conditioning, which can make leather too soft
Water & Moisture Protection
- •Full-grain leather develops water resistance over time naturally
- •If caught in rain, blot (don't rub) with a dry cloth and let air dry
- •Never use a hair dryer or place near heat to speed drying
- •Once dry, condition to restore moisture balance
- •Consider a leather protectant spray for frequent outdoor use
Proper Storage
- •Store in a cool, dry place with good air circulation
- •Use dust bags (never plastic) for long-term storage
- •Stuff bags with acid-free tissue to maintain shape
- •Avoid stacking heavy items on top of leather goods
- •Keep away from humid environments (basements, garages)
Embrace the Patina
One of the most beautiful aspects of full-grain leather is how it develops a unique patina over time. This natural aging process:
- •Creates a rich, warm color unique to your item
- •Shows character marks from your daily adventures
- •Makes each piece truly one-of-a-kind
- •Is completely natural and desirable in quality leather
